JOHN SWIFT died peacefully on 15th January at the age of 93¾. Reunions at Thorner will never be the same. John came to every reunion and although in the latter years he was very frail he still had enthusiasm for life, a kind interest in others, a wicked sense of humour, and could be extremely flirtatious. I'm sure that all who came into contact with John will have only good memories and have a lot to thank him for. Sam Doncaster always says, when he has spent ages solving technical/ building problems, " John Swift would have been proud of me for that". Over the years many people have talked of the great influence John had on their lives. He was an educator without being an educationist.
